Lovin' Bloglovin'

Well, many of my local colleagues have noticed that in the last year I have an addiction.  About 1 & 1/2 years ago I bought an iPad then my addiction began about 6 months later....to Pinterest.  What an amazing world for educators!!!!! So many amazing ideas all in one place.  When I am happy, stressed, sad, frustrated....I Pinterest.  It is my time to both escape the real world and revitalize my love of teaching.  I always tell everyone that it is the perfect way to sneak a peek into other classrooms.  Pinterest has provided many hours of joy and inspiration for both myself and my students!

But alas, I have many, many, many pins and have started utilizing many of these ideas at both my home and classroom.  I am by no means stopping my pins, but I have jumped into a new hobby this summer.  I am starting my own blog and thus my NEW addiction has started!

On my journey through many educational blogs I discovered Bloglovin'.  Bloglovin' is a great site where you can follow your favorite blogs.  I just added my blog to Bloglovin'. There is also an app!  Check it out for hours of fun!

Unwinding, organizing, and becoming human again!

One week into vacation and I have been trying to relax!  I just can't seem to stop thinking about and wanting to prepare for the next school year.  I am totally addicted to Pinterest!!!  While reviewing and better organizing my previous pins, I also dug into my pockets and purchased a few new items.  Check out these finds:

My new magnetic pocket charts from Learning Resources
I plan on using these on my ELA focus wall to post key vocabulary, spelling words/patterns, etc.
I think I will be using one or two for my math focus walls as well.  Tune in at the end of the summer for pics of my focus wall.

Since I needed to switch rooms (again...)  I was moved into the old art room.  As you can imagine there is paint and "artistic" damage to the classroom.  To help cope with these unappealing sites I purchased a table skirt to Velcro in front of the hideous sink.

I also found this "Jungle Window" on my search for the grass table skirt.  My classroom is positioned right near the playground this year.  I am hoping to be able to use this to block out the outdoor activities and keep the kiddos focused on their work.

You can find the grass skirt and "Jungle Window" at PartyBell.com

Sorry that the pictures are sideways...still trying to figure out this blog thing:)

Here are a few things I have actually managed to do for relaxation...
1.  I took my family to see Monsters University...so cute, but I miss Boo.
2.  Booked my NYC vacation with the hubby!
3.  Read a book for pleasure.

Ahhhh, summer... a time to unwind, organize, and become human again!

New beginnings...again

June 11, 2013

I strongly believe that teaching is a journey.  One never knows the paths their career will take.  I started teaching over eight years ago.  During those eight years there have been many joys and sorrows.  I have built my home and family during those eight years.  I have taught fourth, second, and fifth grade and have learned from countless colleagues.  The one thing I have learned, during those eight years, is that things are ever-changing.

As this school year comes to an end (6 1/2 days left...yes I am indeed counting), I must once again get ready to begin again.  While I am thrilled to be teaching second grade next year (my third year in a row....this is a really big deal), I received the news recently that I must pack and move my classroom again (7th time in 8 years)....boo hoo hoo.

Throughout the last year I have worked tirelessly to create an awesome safari themed classroom for my students.  Many of these ideas were collected from numerous, talented bloggers that I have found via Pinterest.  So I have decided to help chronicle my journey through a blog also.  Perhaps I too will be able to inspire others.

This blog is dedicated to all my fellow colleagues and bloggers that have had a rewarding (and sometimes frustrated) journey through teaching.  I am hoping to build an extended family through this blog.  I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
